Everything SD-WAN
SD‐WAN uses software and cloud‐based technologies to simplify delivery of WAN services to remote locations. SD‐WAN enables IT and business managers to deploy Internet‐based connectivity (with its benefits of ubiquity, high bandwidth and low cost) easily, quickly and with quality, reliability and security.
What that really means:
Traffic prioritization down to the application level
Improved reliability through link aggregation and instant failover using packet steering
Rapid deployment of new sites with the ability to replicate existing locations
Provisioning streamlined through the orchestration layer (central management)
Increased visibility into the network performance and analytics
Security by encrypting the traffic on public or private networks
Option to utilize more cost-effective back-up networks and forego costly fiber builds

See how a partner sold SD-WAN to a steel manufacturer.

Customer
A large steel processing company with three locations in the Midwest. It is one of the leading processors and distributors of value-added, flat-rolled steel, and tin-plate steel.

Problem
Three locations and a data center were hosting mission-critical software and the need for network flexibility was growing. The current environment was expensive and no longer provided the performance the company needed.

Solution
A solution for cloud-managed voice, data and internet access was purchased, as well as enhanced-use, dual-carrier circuits at each site. SD-WAN was layered on top.

Result
Balanced traffic across both circuits, prioritization to the IBM environment in its data center, reliable failover, and simplified billing.
